This course is designed to bridge the gap between witnessing an accident and taking decisive action. Often, the biggest hurdle in a crisis isn't a lack of skill, but the hesitation to identify that a situation has turned critical. You will learn to bypass the "bystander effect" by sharpening your situational awareness and interpreting subtle cues that signal a medical or environmental emergency.

This lesson focuses on the critical first seconds of an emergency. Often called the "Stop and Think" phase, Sizing Up the Scene is the mental discipline required to ensure you don’t become a victim yourself while trying to help others.
